A Loaf of Bread, a Jar of Oil: Trusting God to Stretch Your Ingredients

A Loaf of Bread, a Jar of Oil: Trusting God to Stretch Your Ingredients

Tips! Wisdom for the Wallet & Table

Do you look in your pantry and see “nothing to make”? Remember the widow with just a little oil and flour. God told her, “The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry.” (1 Kings 17:14). He provided.

We can trust God to stretch our resources too. Here’s how:

  • Embrace Pantry Staples: Rice, beans, pasta, and canned goods are affordable, versatile, and filling.
  • Repurpose Leftovers: Turn last night’s roasted chicken into today’s soup or sandwiches. Nothing is wasted.
  • Plan Simple Meals: A nourishing meal doesn’t have to be complicated. Soup, omelets, or grain bowls are healthy, affordable, and quick.

Cooking on a budget is an act of faith and creativity. Trust God to provide and give you wisdom to use what you have.

A Short Prayer:
Lord, thank you for your provision. Give me creativity to nourish my family and help me to trust you with what we have. Amen.

Your Next Step: Pick one pantry staple and find a new recipe for it this week.
