“Every meal is a ministry (Matthew 14:16).

When Jesus looked upon the hungry crowd and told His disciples, “You give them something to eat,” He wasn’t just asking them to share bread—He was inviting them into a divine work, a miracle of compassion that would echo through eternity.

Today, the volunteers at Gateway to Hope step into that same holy calling, turning bags of groceries into manna from heaven and every shared meal into an altar where God’s love is made real.

Most families arrive in cars, their faces weary but hopeful as they pull up to receive the food that will carry them through the week. But among them are those who come on foot—the hungry and homeless, their shoes worn thin, their backpacks heavy with everything they own. Some pedal in on bicycles, their legs trembling from exhaustion, their stomachs hollow with hunger.

These are the ones the world often overlooks, but Gateway to Hope’s volunteers see them, really see them! Just as Christ sees them! With tenderness, they hand them not just food, but dignity. Not just a meal, but a reminder: “You are not forgotten. God knows your name.”

Every box or bag of food packed, every loaf of bread placed into waiting hands is more than charity, it is a sacrament. GTH volunteers don’t just distribute food; they minister, offering words of hope, and sometimes simply listening in silence with those who need to know they’re not alone. Their work is a living psalm, declaring: “Taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8).

This is the miracle of Gateway to Hope; not that thousands are fed (though they are), but that every can of soup, every jar of peanut butter, becomes a love letter from God.

The world might call it a food distribution, but heaven calls it worship. And the volunteers, with their tireless hearts, are the faithful laborers in God’s harvest, proving that when ordinary people say “yes” to Jesus, He still feeds the multitudes—one bag, one box, one prayer, one sacred moment at a time.
