Update: TEFAP Food Distribution Returns to Monthly Schedule

Gateway To Hope Ministries is announcing a change to our TEFAP food distribution schedule. Beginning this month, we are returning to a once-a-month distribution model. Going forward, our TEFAP giveaway days will be held only on the first Thursday of each month. NOTE: TEFAP is NOT part of our separate Saturday morning distribution. TEFAP, Saturday morning and Thursday Lunches are all different initiatives here at Gateway to Hope. TEFAP distribution hours remain the same: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. For those who may have seen previous TEFAP schedules, please note this is a move back to one distribution per month rather than two. We have updated our Facebook page to reflect this change as well. What is TEFAP? If you are new to our food ministry, you might be wondering exactly what TEFAP is. TEFAP stands for The Emergency Food Assistance Program. It is a federal program administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) that helps supplement the diets of low-income Americans by providing them with emergency food assistance at no cost . Through this program, the USDA purchases high-quality, nutritious foods—including fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables, meat, eggs, dairy, and grains—and provides them to local organizations like ours to distribute directly to the community . This partnership allows Gateway To Hope Ministries to offer a wider variety of staple items than we might otherwise be able to provide. Who is eligible? TEFAP is designed to support households that are facing food insecurity. Eligibility is generally based on household income guidelines set by the state, or by participation in other assistance programs such as SNAP, TANF, or SSI . If you have questions about whether you qualify, we encourage you to still come by during our distribution window; our team can help answer questions and guide you through the process. A Note of Thanks We are grateful for the continued support of our volunteers and partners who make this distribution possible. We look forward to seeing you on the first Thursday of the month

Date: First Thursday of every month Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Location: Gateway To Hope Ministries
